Clovely Estate is located
13 km south-east of Murgon on Steinhardts
Road. Clovely's vineyards were established in 1997 and are the
second
largest in Queensland, covering 133ha (330 acres). Clovely Estate itself
is owned by the
Heading family, who've been farming in the South Burnett

Clovely Estate grows shiraz, cabernet, merlot, chardonnay, semillon and verdelho
grapes. The Estate also grows smaller quantities of barbera, grenache and
sangiovese and is currently carrying out small trial plantings of a number
of other exotic grape varieties.
In addition to pure bottlings of their principal grape varieties, Clovely
also produce a Reserve Brut; a tawny port; a sparkling shiraz; a rose;
several blended wines limited quantities of double-pruned shiraz. All the
Estate's wines are processed at their own winery (which is the largest
in Queensland and which produces wines fort many other companies under contract)
under the expert hand of multi-award winning winemaker Luke Fitzpatrick.
Clovely Estate's Moffatdale cellar door is run by Cathie, Wally
and Nick Pesudovs and is open for tastings between 10:00am and
4:00pm every day. It stocks all the Estate's wines. The Old Dairy Restaurant
is open for lunch from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm every Saturday, Sunday
and most public holidays and it offers terrific French cuisine along with
an extensive wine list. Clovely Estate also have a second cellar door at Red Hill
in Brisbane; 4 satellite cellar doors in other Brisbane suburbs; and a mobile cellar
door (see Clovely's website for more details about these).
