Kingsley Grove Estate - a combined vineyard and winery - was established
by
Mike and
Pat Berry in 1998. Their son
Simon is Estate's
winemaker and he's won many awards over the years. The Estate is located
12km from the centre of Kingaroy on the main road to the Bunya Mountains
National Park.
The Estate has 9 hectares of vines (around 22 acres) and currently
produces 9 different grape varieties on a range of soils. The principal
grape varieties grown are cabernet sauvignon, chambourcin, chardonnay, merlot,
sangiovese, semillion, shiraz and verdelho. Several of these varieties were
pioneered in the South Burnett on the Estate's vineyards.
Kingsley Grove craft 18 different wines from these varieties including
red and white sparkling wines as well as sweet, dry and fortified releases.
All wines are made from grapes grown and harvested on the property (in the
estate tradition) using Kingsley Grove's modern winery.
Kingsley Grove's cellar door is open for tastings from 10:00am to
5:00pm daily except in the winter months when it's open on
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. Visitors are advised
to call in advance if they plan on visiting in the cooler weather.
Cellar door visitors can also get to see the Estate's winemaking and
storage facilities if they wish, and groups can be accommodated with
special activities in the vineyard and the winery by pre- arrangement. Kingsley
Grove can also provide meals and snacks for visitors who book
in advance, and they installed a wood-fired pizza oven in July 2010 to make
mouth-watering pizzas on demand.
In addition to their cellar door and website, Kingsley Grove's wines can
also be obtained at the
Taste South Burnett cellar
door in William Street, Kingaroy and at the
Windera Hydroponic Farm
in Morgans Rd, Windera. Kingsley Grove are also regularly seen at the
Wine & Food In The Park
Festival held in Kingaroy on the second weekend of March each year.
