Roderick's Vineyard is located
11 km south-east of Murgon at Redgate
(near Moffatdale).
It's the second-largest vineyard in the South Burnett with 40 ha
under vine and it produces chardonnay, semillon, verdelho, columbard,
shiraz, merlot, cabernet, white and black muscat and tarango grapes. Roderick's
is owned by Veronica and Robert Roderick and the property has
been in the family's hands since 1992. The first grapes were planted in 1996
and the first wines were produced in 1998.
Roderick's operate their own winery and they produce 14 different
varieties of wines, 6 different liqueurs, a port and -
uniquely - two varieties of 100% natural grape juices from grapes grown
on the property.
Roderick's cellar door is open every Thursday to Sunday (and
all public holidays) from 10:00am to 5:00pm. In addition to
wine tastings the cellar door also offers soft drinks, tea and coffee as
well as locally produced olives; other olive products; and Roderick's honey.
The cellar door can be hired for day or evening functions and is a popular
spot for wedding receptions.
In addition to the cellar door, the property has 6 air-conditioned
cottages for on-vineyard accommodation. These modern cottages are fully
self-contained and can sleep up to 4 people. Tours of the winery and
a thorough description of the wine-making process can also be arranged with
a prior booking.
Bus tour groups are also very welcome at Roderick's by prior arrangement,
and there's ample free parking available in the grounds.
