
Tipperary Estate is located
15 km south-east of Murgon near the
Bjelke-Petersen Dam and has striking views along the Barambah Valley. Tipperary
is owned by
Craig and
Pauline Gillett.
It's a specialist boutique winery and its wines - which are individually
crafted using a mix of Tipperary's own grapes and premium South Burnett grapes
sourced from other local vineyards - have won numerous awards. The
principal grape varieties grown at Tipperary are verdelho, chardonnay and
shiraz.
You can visit Tipperary Estate's cellar door from 12:00 noon
to 3:00pm on Fridays; and from 10:00am to 4:00pm on
weekends and public holidays.
Tipperary Estate run periodic special events such as Wine Appreciation
Dinners or the Estate's annual Pickers Breakfast, Grape Stomp And
Luncheon (held every February). Details about these events can be found
the Estate's web site and also on South Burnett Wine's Events
Calendar.
You can stay overnight at the Estate's Tipperary Cottage if you wish.
The Cottage overlooks the vineyards and has a Queen-size bedroom with an
ensuite. Tariffs start at $110 per couple (which includes a continental
breakfast) and $15 per extra person per night.
Tipperary Estate requires advance bookings for bus groups, but visitors
are always welcome during opening hours and there's plenty of free
parking in the grounds.
